JULIE MORRISON
THE CANINE COACH
(PRINCIPAL TRAINER)
Julie brings more than twenty years experience in education to her coaching, ensuring that learning is a fun and rewarding experience, both for dogs and their owners.
Julie began her career as a school teacher where she was able to practice and refine key communication skills and educational methods. Those skills were enhanced when she left teaching to help executives learn new skills through experiential coaching programs. From that platform, Julie became a corporate trainer and facilitator.
Her knowledge and experience ensures that people and dogs get all the right messages, easily and in a happy atmosphere.
A dog who shares understanding with its owner enjoys a close bond and a far more joyful existence than one who is uneducated and so, is frustrated by a lack of understanding.
Julie has dedicated herself to helping dogs and their owners develop that understanding and to make their lives the great fun and rewarding experience it should be. Seeing an ever increasing need for individual instruction, Julie started The Canine Coach in 2006.
Julie has been active in training and competing with her own dogs for the past seven years in the areas of showing and obedience. She also trains and handles other dogs for friends and clients.
Her great treasure is her Great Dane, Ch. Danehaus Cat Balou CD (also known as Gabrielle). Gabrielle became the first Victorian Great Dane in over 12 years to hold titles in both Showing and Obedience.
Julie is a Senior Instructor with Hastings and District Obedience Dog Club. For four years she held the position of Training Coordinator and currently runs the new Instructor Training Program. She is also invited by other clubs to present workshops.
Julie is also a Senior Educator and Assessor with the State Government's Responsible Pet Ownership Program. She is also a volunteer with the Victorian Canine Association's, Hospital Pet Therapy Program.
Julie has a Bachelor of Science, Diploma of Education, Certificate IV in Assessment and Training and has completed a Diploma in Canine Behaviour. Julie is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers Australia.
